Schweiger Farms has been in the family since July 21, 1881 and is a Wisconsin Century Farm.   Paul and Shelly Schweiger started ownership in the farm with John and Marge Schweiger (Paul’s parents) in 1990 and are the 6th family members to own this land.   The farm has had many transitions over the years and land has been added.   In the early days the farm was a turkey and dairy farm, had a saw mill and two maple sugar camps.  In 1984 the dairy cows were sold and shifted the focus of the farm to beef and dairy replacement heifers.   Today they mainly have black and red Angus with both registered and commercial animals.  They also raise and sell bred Angus replacement heifers and yearling bulls.   The farm also finishes out their own steers in addition to purchasing select feedlot cattle.  The crops they raise are corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and winter wheat/rye which is used to feed their livestock and all excess crops are sold locally.   Today Schweiger Farms is owned and operated by Paul and Shelly Schweiger along with their three children Derek (23), Courtney (17) and John (13).

Following dinner, Jayde Farbo, Wisconsin Beef Council Communications Coordinator & Director of Online Marketing, will be giving an update on the Beef Checkoff and provide a Media Spokesperson Training session. Chris Zellmer, Purina’s Beef Technical Specialist, will give a talk on Minerals and Micro Nutrients and their value to beef producers.

Please pre-register by filling out the flyer and sending it in with your fee or by calling the Richland County Extension Office at 647-6148 before Wednesday, July 19, 2017 to ensure an accurate meal count.
